Returns an overview of your knowledge vault: entity counts, graph health, and top entities.

Parameters

None. Just call status().

Response

The status tool returns:
  • Total entities: how many people, projects, concepts, etc. are in your vault
  • Entity breakdown: count by type
  • Graph health: connectivity metrics
  • Top entities: most referenced entities
  • Recent activity: latest captures and dream processing

When to use

  • Verify your connection: “Check my BaseLayer status” confirms MCP is working
  • Monitor vault growth: see how your knowledge graph is expanding
  • Debug issues: if recall returns nothing, status can reveal if the vault is empty or if there’s a processing backlog
Example:
“What’s my BaseLayer vault status?”
The AI calls status() and reports something like:
Your vault has 847 entities (312 concepts, 156 people, 128 projects, 251 other). Graph health is good with 2,340 relationships. Last dream cycle processed 5 conversations 20 minutes ago.
