Installation

The BaseLayer desktop app captures your AI conversations, connects to your cloud memory, and hosts IDE watchers for coding tools.

System requirements

  • macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later
  • Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) or Intel

Download

Download BaseLayer for macOS → The download page will detect your chip automatically. If you need a specific version:
  • Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4): BaseLayer-arm64.dmg
  • Intel: BaseLayer-x64.dmg

Install

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file
  2. Drag BaseLayer into your Applications folder
  3. Open BaseLayer from Applications
On first launch, macOS Gatekeeper may block the app. If you see a warning that the app can’t be opened, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Verify it’s running

Once launched, you’ll see the BaseLayer icon in your menu bar (top-right of your screen). Click it to open the app window. The Connections tab shows what’s currently connected and ingesting.

Auto-launch on startup

BaseLayer starts automatically when you log in. You can change this in Settings → System Preferences → Start on Login.

Updates

BaseLayer checks for updates automatically. When a new version is available, you’ll see a notification. Updates are downloaded and installed with one click.

Uninstall

To remove BaseLayer:
  1. Quit the app (menu bar icon → Quit)
  2. Move BaseLayer from Applications to Trash
Uninstalling the desktop app does not delete your data. Your memory is stored in the cloud and remains accessible after reinstalling.
