Aider Integration

BaseLayer captures your Aider conversations automatically by detecting .aider.chat.history.md files.

Setup

No setup required. The BaseLayer desktop app watches for Aider’s chat history files in your project directories. Just make sure:
  1. The BaseLayer desktop app is running
  2. IDE Watchers are enabled in Settings

How it works

Aider stores conversation history in .aider.chat.history.md files in your project root. BaseLayer’s IDE watcher monitors these files for changes and captures new conversations as they appear.

Verify it’s working

Open the BaseLayer desktop app → Settings → IDE Watchers. You should see Aider activity listed if you’ve had recent conversations.
BaseLayer watches for changes to existing history files. If you delete and recreate history files, previously captured conversations are still in your vault.
